Well, close. These are almost all liver performance videos, or short documentaries of really cool events around New York’s new music scene. They’ve also got long podcasty ‘hangout’ videos with composers, mostly of the brooklyn-hipster ilk. Good source of classical music video, and good blog.

All right, this is one of mine. But I’m super proud of it. You can watch it in your dashboard, because it’s embedded. But if you click through to my site you can see it with the score to violin piece going by underneath. That way you can see what Sean’s doing as he does it. Neat trick, huh?

Part of why this is so good: The shots of the orchestra are in such slow motion that they can’t possibly hope for sync. Also it’s so Ken Burns-y that I’m half expecting Sam Waterston to start narrating a letter to Cosima.

I love Kagel’s music, particularly Dressur, but this experimental film with solo piano music based on Nosferatu is kind of incredible, too.

What a great way to integrate performance footage with other film elements.
